保罗史密斯的 College’s Global Center for Rural Communities (GCRC) 和 the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) partnered to launch an “Idea Lab” at 保罗史密斯的 College to support entrepreneurial efforts in the Adirondack region.

The Idea Lab is a satellite office for AEDC that is designed to provide students 和 the local community professional feedback on new business ideas 和 technical assistance with launching a business or growing an existing company, including business plan development, 获得资本, 和培训.

AEDC is currently based out of Saranac Lake, N.Y., 和 provides business training, 贷款, 和 technical assistance to underserved populations in 14 counties across the North Country: Clinton, 埃塞克斯, 富兰克林, 富尔顿, 汉密尔顿, 何其莫, 杰佛逊, 刘易斯, 奥奈达市, 奥斯维戈, 萨拉托加, St. Lawrence, Warren 和 Washington counties. Launching the Idea Lab at 保罗史密斯的 College gives AEDC an opportunity to extend their client base to include student entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to bolster rural economic development in the region.

In 2018, 保罗史密斯的 formed the GCRC in an effort to share ideas with global partners about how to create thriving rural communities that exhibit ecological, 社会, 和 economic resilience. Faculty 和 students work with organizations addressing rural development issues including the Resilience Studies Consortium, UNESCO’s Man 和 Biosphere Program, 最近, 的AEDC.
